How does an ultrasonic dog training device work?

Ultrasonic dog training devices emit high-frequency sounds that are inaudible to humans but can be heard by dogs. When activated, these sounds can capture your dog's attention and deter unwanted behaviours, such as barking or jumping.

What behaviours can I address with this device?

Ultrasonic devices can effectively help manage a variety of behaviours, including excessive barking, jumping up on people, chewing, and other distractions during training sessions.

  1. Easy to use and test. The new sensor hole activates the collar by more sensitively capturing throat vibration when dog barks. You can test it yourself by simply blowing air into the sensor hole.
  2. Trains dog not punishes. Collar emits a warning sound during the first two barks. When barking continues, it emits a combination of Sound + Vibration from the third to seventh bark. The vibration time increases the more successive times the collar is triggered.
  3. Auto protect for enhanced safety. Enters into one-minute auto-protection mode after being triggered seven times continuously.
  4. Press + - button to adjust the 7 sensitivity levels.
  5. You know it's working when the indicator light is on.
  6. Enhanced night time safety with a high quality 1.5cm wide Black Polyester Belt with 2 reflective strips.

Is the ultrasonic sound harmful to my dog?

No, the ultrasonic sound is safe for dogs when used as directed. It merely serves as a distraction or a deterrent. However, it’s essential to avoid overuse, as continuous exposure may lead to stress or anxiety in some dogs.

How far can the ultrasonic sound reach?

Automatic ultrasonic devices like the bark house can detect barking noises within 15 metres of the microphone. When barking is detected, ultrasonic noise is emitted within 15 metres. This is assuming the device is clear of obstacles and placed within the recommended height. Handheld devices share the same ultrasonic emittance range but do not automatically detect barking.

Can I use this device indoors and outdoors?

Yes! There is a common misconception that these ultrasonic devices cannot be used indoors. We recommend simply limiting the device to level one when used indoors.

Do I need to train my dog to respond to the device?

While many dogs will respond instinctively to the sound, some may require additional training and reinforcement. Pairing the device's use with positive rewards can help reinforce good behaviour more effectively.

Are there any limitations to using ultrasonic training devices?

Yes, while ultrasonic devices can be effective, they may not work for every dog. Some dogs might be less sensitive to sound, and training should be complemented with other methods, like obedience training and positive reinforcement. Additionally, avoid using the device around other pets or animals that may be startled by the sound.
